Kenya is a country situated in East Africa. It is bordered by Ethiopia to the north, Tanzania to the south, Somalia and the Indian Ocean to the east, Uganda to the west, and Sudan to the northwest. A significant landmark Mount Kenya is established here due to which the country has been named Kenya. The official language of Kenya is Swahili, English. The capital city of Kenya is Nairobi. The culture of Kenya is a mixture of varied culture. A large group of people from different culture lived here like regional peoples such as the Swahili along the coast. There are 42 types of tribes in Kenya. The majority belongs from the tribe Bantu of Western Africa the Central Highlands, and the Nilotic from the Nile Valley. The main tribes are Kikuyu (21%), Meru (5%), Kalenjin, Luyha, Luo (14%), Kisii, Kamba, Swahili, Masai, Turkana. Each tribe had a unique culture. For tourist point of view Maasai cultureattracts towards itself. Food: Due to its varied culture there is not any specific food, different tribes have their own specialized food. Some of the famous dishes ugali, sukuma wiki, and nyama choma.
Fauna And Flora
Kenya has 80 major species of animals and over 1000 species of birds. The flora basically depends upon various climatic conditions. The flora gets support from water supply from lakes, rivers etc. You can find here species of large sized Lobelia and Senecio. The Masai Mara is famous for savannah grassland.
The fauna found here includes large and small lizards,antelope herds, Wildebeest, zebra,cheetah,lion, leopard,hunting dog, and hyena, warthog, baboon, ostrich, Elephants, smaller carnivores like serval cat, genet and jackal can also be seen.Giraffes can be seen roaming in savannah and crocodile found in Lake Turkana and at Sibiloi Park etc.
